{day 14} in a small city

Yesterday I introduced you to The Peanut Shoppe.
Today our tour of the city will take us right across the street to the public library!

The Kanawha County Public Library system has many locations, but this one downtown is the Main Library. It is much larger than most of the other locations.

The first floor is where you'll find most of the adult fiction and non-fiction books, as well as computers for public use, old newspapers/magazines, and even a little reading area in the balcony.

I haven't spent much time on the second floor, but the third floor is the children's area and we spend quite a bit of time there!

They offer story times every week for various age groups from birth to age 5.
There is also a fun play area for children.
They have SO many books, magazines, audio books, and DVDs available for check-out.

My littles really enjoy our times at the library.
The story times are especially fun because they are geared for certain ages...although E still enjoys the "baby class" that G-man goes to.

If you are a teacher, the library has a special section of the 3rd floor reserved for teacher use. Even if you are a homeschooling momma you are allowed to use that section which is a huge resource!

We don't go up to the fourth floor very often, but when I get a chance to go alone I like to go there. They keep all of the audio visual materials up there. The library offers so many movies (both old and new) to borrow for free! It really is fun to pick out movies that we haven't seen in a while or even really old ones we have never seen.
When we were in high school, my sister and I would go and rent movies frequently. Its free and you get to keep them for a week (compared to the one-day rental at RedBox).
They have tons of audio books for adults as well. Several times we have checked out audio books to take on road trips with us. So much fun!

Aside from the regular library events, they offer special events throughout the year. Everything from crafting classes to book clubs to children's movie nights and everything in between! Its always exciting to see what is happening at the library!

Did you know this is {day 14} in a 31 day series?!?
I'm linking up with The Nester and others in the Write31Days challenge!
Go check out the other blogs and check back here tomorrow for another "day in a small city"
